Sociologists of Minnesota (SOM) is the premier organization in Minnesota for promoting and developing an understanding of sociology and sociological practices. In need of an update, SOM approached me to work on a refreshed visual identity and website the summer before their annual fall conference. Looking for a modernized look and feel as well as web presence, I got right to work.

Myself and the SOM core team worked together to narrow in on a logo that reflected the values of the non-profit, wanting to show not only how their work reflects the entire state of Minnesota, but the overlapping and all encompassing nature of the research and data they work with everyday.

Nametags for the SOM conference.


Shortly after we locked the brand down, I started on some initial concepts for an updated website. The goal of the site was to take away some of the burden on the SOM team members so they can focus on running their annual conference. Now new SOM members and conference attendees are able to get all conference information and sign up for a membership all in one place.
